FDP Virginia has released an app for the iPhone and Android phones called VINScan, a VIN barcode scanner app. Since the early 80’s vehicles have been required by law to have VINs (vehicle identification numbers) placed throughout the chassis. Generally these numbers have a barcode that matches them which can usually be found next to or underneath it on VINs place on labels.
Just as the name says, VINScan scans the barcode found on the label and pulls up more than 40 fields of information pertaining to the vehicle. This sounds like a really cool app as it can quickly and clearly provide the user with the weight, wheel size, body type, towing capacity, manufacturer recalls, and factory warranty information, as well as year make and model. In addition to all of the info that’s literally available at your fingertips, you can store information on up to 100 vehicles which makes your job a little easier when ordering replacement parts or verifying maintenance requirements and schedules per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
For $2.00 this doesn’t sound like a bad mobile app to have in your pocket at all times. Interested in picking up? Here’s where you can find it:
